Cast - Layout of the Backstage
Andrew Varela here, I'm working on a cool cyberhandle. I'll keep you posted.
Sometimes its helpful to explain to those interested what our world looks like in order to let you get a better understanding of what our daily life is like. To that end, lets take a virtual stroll backstage at the Virginny.
Immediately upon entering the stage door, you will encounter our Guardian of the Gates, our Cerberus, our Aegis, but you can call him Will (or in the evening, Joe). If you can answer their mystical riddle, you may proceed up to the next level. Actually, there is no riddle, but you do have to ask for your dressing room key.
Walk up the stairs to the stage level and you will find our bulletin board where all sorts of important information is made available to all. Most importantly, it's where the card that has the location of the days pastries or bagels is located.
Also on that level is Sutton's dressing room. Sutton has all manner of drawings and sketches on her door that she receives from fans. If you open her door, right on the left is what can only be described as a "never-empty-M&M-bank". Its one of those little M&M guys playing golf (I do not know Sutton's handicap) and if you pull his arm down you are rewarded with a river of the delicious candies. Sutton is always up for a chat with her castmates when she has a break, which are few and far between, and she also has a library of trashy magazines from which to glean a topic of discussion. She has a big poster of Jennifer Garner on her bathroom door as well as an 8x10 that Ms Garner has lavishly addressed to Sutton (she apologizes that the picture is "dorky").
Moving to the next level: the first room is occupied by Amy McAlexander (Amy) and Jenny Powers (Meg). They've personalized it with various little tchotchkies (never know how to spell that) and such. Jenny has a big colored pencil drawing of her Boston Red Sox winning the World Series (very dangerous in NYC). In the next room you would find Megan McGinnis (Beth), she's managed to score a cot to put in there and anyone who's done a 5-show-weekend knows how delicious a between show nap is.
Lastly on that floor is Maureen McGovern's room. Maureen has brought all the comforts of home into this room, including a rather nice sofa, a microwave and a refrigerator. She loves zebras and has pictures of them as well as some of her revered Yorkies decorating the room.
On the 3rd floor, you'll find Janet Carroll next to Danny Gurwin and Jim Weitzer. Bob Stattel and John Hickock take the last room on that floor.
Way up on 4, that is where you'll find the standbys running lines and going through our staging, all in order to make sure that we'll be ready to go on if, God forbid, something should happen during the show. Julie Foldesi, Larissa Shukis, Anne Kannengeiser, Jim Stanek, and me; all running our own version of the show sans sets and costumes. Our own "Little Rascals" version of "Little Women".

Thanks for writing Andrew! This gives us all a great idea of what is going on back stage. When I went back stage after the show, I was only on the second level with Jenny, Amy, Megan and Maureen. It is great to know what itis like on other floors. Keep up the great work in the show.
Also, did you sing the role of Charles Darnay on the concept album for " A Tale of Two Cities" the Musical? I have the CD and I love it!~Caitlin

It's nice to hear what it's like backstage. I am an aspiring Broadway performer as well and love hearing about how much fun everyone has :)Congratulations to all of you! Hopefully I'll be able to come up to NY from Florida soon. Break a leg!

Hey Andrew! Thanks so much for posting that! My favorite part was your description of Sutton's dressing room...it sounds like total awesomeness! I remember her saying something once about loving trashy magazines! :-) and her M&M bank is so totally Sutton! I love it! Jenny rocks because she likes the red sox....hehe!
thanks again!
